Make a date with the best of local arts and crafts in an effort to showcase Ipoh as a creative destination. Plus, RIUH will be celebrating its 2ndbirthday so even more a reason to celebrate!
The partnership between RIUH and SAMA SAMA Perak will not only strengthen ties between states and promote Malaysia as a nation filled with diverse creative talents, but will also encourage sharing and exchange of knowledge within the creative industry. At its core, SAMA SAMA RIUH will ultimately foster a sense of community among locals and tourists as well as adding value to the tourism industry.
Set against the rustic backdrop of the popular Ipoh hub, SAMA SAMA RIUH will feature 50 retail vendors offering artisanal goods from apparel, beauty and wellness products, stationary, visual arts and design centric creations from homegrown brands from Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Perak. 24 food vendors and 6 food trucks will also provide lip smacking, Western and Asian dishes for you to feast on. Expect established Malaysian lifestyle brands such as APOM, Bingka and Loka Made to newly homegrown brands such as Maryam Bayam and B’Nottee.
In conjunction with the upcoming National Day Celebration, SAMA SAMA RIUH will also feature special curated content to showcase the diversity of Malaysia. The Rojak Projek, a social enterprise that focuses on creating positive understanding and awareness in our unity, culture and diversity through creativity, will be exhibiting their Dan Lain Lain Campaign. Participate in the campaign, indulge in an Orang Asli craft sale and enjoy a unique multicultural portrait exhibition! Projek 57 will also be having a special exhibit as a form of tribute to Tunku Abdul Rahman in a bid to foster unity and love for the country. Come and show your support for A Piece of Malaysia campaign, an initiative by APOM as well as open up to new interactions and exchanges via Human Library’s movement to spread awareness on immigrant lives in Malaysia.
What’s Malaysia without culture? Be mesmerize with traditional dance performances including Tarian Sewang, Barathanatyam, Zapin Gambus and even Silat Gayong, brought to you by Encore Melaka and Majlis Kebudayaan Negeri Perak.
There will also be a string of musical talents eager to impress the crowd with sweet sounds from Lust, DJ Bunga, Bear Scouts, Loko, Chelsia Ng, Leaism. Anticipate some Perakian artists and bands like, Spooky Wet Dreams, Suehaila and Lost Spaces. A fusion of live artistic expression from Joni Mustaf Drumz Aktion by Gerakan Seni Ipoh & Projek Rabak, combining music, poetry and spoken word in uncontroversial form building dynamic music from 2 drums, saxophone and vocals in prose and song are all waiting to be discovered!
Get your hands dirty through a terrarium workshop by Moon Shop Gallery where you will learn about plants, the ecosystem and experience the creation of a miniature forest first hand. Also discover the delicate art of making snow skin mooncakes in preparation for the upcoming Mooncake Festival by Glorious Bake for both parents and children.
